Both Svaneti’s ski resorts offer fun freeriding options for lift-assisted freeride. Mount Tetnuldi (4869 m) is a beautiful pyramid-shaped summit with plenty of different-level freeride opportunities. The resort was constructed in 2016, and one of the ambitious ideas put into it was creating the Georgian «freeride mecca». The covid pandemic interfered with plans for further expanding the resort, but nevertheless the existing ski lifts bring you up to almost 3200 m, from where you can ride countless couloirs in the direction of the nearby villages. Tetnuldi is about 40 min by car from Mestia, all transfers are included in the package, and if you decide to finish the day with a final ride into one of the side villages, the driver will be there to collect you.
Mount Zuruldi (2400 m) where Resort Hatsvali is located is Mestia’s domestic resort, within 10 minutes by car from any location in Mestia. Even though it is small, it also has some fun couloirs, great forest riding for bad weather and amazing views of Ushba and the Great Caucasus.
All prices are quoted for a group of 6 skiers. If your group is smaller, the price might be a little higher.
