If you are staying overnight in Ushguli, it’s a good idea to take a horseback ride to Shkhara glacier. You ride out of Ushguli past Lamaria monastery to the north-east and follow Enguri river upstream. You will need to walk the last 1.5 km if you wish to get right on the glacier.
