Lovely panoramic trail with the best view of Mt. Ushba; usually accessible directly from Mestia by chair-lift.
The trail starts in Mestia (1450 m above sea level), at the lower chair-lift station not far from Svaneti Museum. If this segment is working, you can take the chair-lift all the way up to Zuruldi and go down the same way without pick-up or drop-off by car. The only money you pay is the chair-lift ticket. However if the Mestia station is not working, we provide drop-off at Hatsvali middle chair-lift station and pick you up there when you return. The chair-lifts open at 10 am and close at 16:30-17:00; they are also closed in cloudy and foggy weather. If the chair-lift is completed closed, we drop you off at Kheshkili, which is a lovely place in itself, and you will take a forest road from there uphill to Zuruldi. In about 1 hour you will arrive at the upper chair-lift station (Zuruldi) and join the main marked trail from there.
You will then walk along Zuruldi Range admiring Ushba, Chatyn, Bjedukh, Tetnuldi and other peaks of the Great Caucasus on your left, and the Svaneti Range on your right, with villages Ieli and Tsvirmi below on the right-hand side.
Return the same way.
Distance: 8 km (with chair-lifts working) or 15 km from Kheshkili.
