UNESCO site Ushguli is Europe’s highest permanent medieval settlement at 2200 m above sea level. It is located 46 km away from Mestia at the foot of the legendary Bezengi wall — the tallest section of the Great Caucasus including Georgia’s tallest summit Shkhara (5193 m). Ushguli is Svaneti’s most remote village: the road takes 2 hours and can be tamed only by experienced local drivers and only in good weather. This is why so few skiers get there and this is why our guides will always find untouched snow in Ushguli.
