Day 1: village Adishi and St. Kvirike monastery. The monastery belongs to Kala Community and is located on a high hill, so you will need to hike a little to get there. This is the most sacred place for Svaneti, a church decorated with frescoes by Royal Painter Tevdore (late 11th century) and treasuring a collection of ikons as large as Svaneti Museum in Mestia.
Day 2: Ushguli, St. Barbara’s church of Khe, St. George’s church of Nakiphari.
This is a guided trip, but you can also do it without a guide, with just the driver helping you to get inside the churches, or on the contrary hire a better qualified category 1 guide to get the most out of it.
